Challenge
The challenge was to create a brand identity that felt imaginative, vibrant, and unexpected, moving away from the muted, earthy tones often associated with nature-based brands.
It needed to reflect the whimsy of childhood and the wonder of outdoor exploration, while still communicating growth, energy, and a grounded connection to nature.
Strategy
I designed a custom hand-lettered typeface for the wordmark, giving the brand a playful and distinctive foundation.
This was supported by a suite of custom illustrations that bring a sense of wonder into the identity, working seamlessly with the type to create a cohesive visual language.
Drawing inspiration from memories of decorating school books, I introduced playful sticker elements and a cut-and-paste collage aesthetic. This approach adds a layer of nostalgia while encouraging imagination and creativity throughout the brand.
Result
The result is a vibrant and expressive brand identity that captures the magic of outdoor learning.
It feels playful, creative, and full of personality, while still grounded in its purpose of connecting children with nature through curiosity and exploration.
